The Dance

Here in east Tennessee, it’s transition time. This week’s birdies have been a mix of summer visitors who will move on soon (summer tanager), year-round residents (blue jay, titmouse), migrants just passing through (black-throated green and Tennessee warblers), and some arrivals who might take up residence for the winter (gold crowned kinglet and song sparrow). It’s like a dance. A glorious airborne shuffle.
