They’re all starting to look alike, these little yellow birds. I’ve spotted more migrating fall warblers in my yard over the last week. I don’t know how people manage to identify these little guys without a camera. I take photos and then enlarge them so I have something to compare to the pictures in the bird guides. And even then, I’ve had a hard time figuring out what some of these are. Thank goodness I have some friends on the internet who really know their birds, because these fall warblers don’t look much like their pictures in the guidebooks.
This bird is a good example. It’s a Blackburnian Warbler in fall plumage. It doesn’t look much like the photos at the Cornell Lab’s website.
