Warbler Watch 2013

Black-Throated Green Warbler

I’m hooked on warbler watching. Just a few days ago, I discovered I have migratory warblers visiting my property and now any flicker of motion outside the window has me searching the tree canopies with a telephoto lens.  That’s where they’re supposed to be, right? The bird book descriptions say these little birds spend most of their time in the tops of the trees, but I’ve been fortunate enough to spot mine down lower. Several landed right next to my little bird pond.

In the last three days I’ve spotted a black-throated green warbler, a black and white warbler, a chestnut-sided warbler, and a hooded warbler.  I’m going to try getting up early tomorrow to look for more, although all the sightings so far have been in the late afternoon.
